IMakeApps

Android’s IMakeApps is a film series showcasing the breadth and diversity of Android app makers, fore-fronting the potential for anyone to create their own app.

I produced 5 of the 11 films in this series.

Filming in South Korea, Argentina, USA & Sweden.

Daniel Lee - EMPO

Mateo Salvatto - ¡Háblalo!

Sterling Udell - Lunescope

Maurizio Leo - SkyView

My Role & challenges

Producing these films involved working with researchers to interview found candidates and determine the most compelling stories for the second wave of films produced for the series. This involved pre-interviewing suitable contributors to determine their ability on camera, as well as the nuance and appeal of their unique story.

From here, my role involved collaborating with the series director to write the scripts, determine locations & key creative development decisions.

Local fixers were key for certain locations. I sourced reliable and efficient teams in all locations and developed a working schedule with them and the talent. A key focus, and challenge, for these films was to elevate the stories by pushing the visual creatively, looking for incredible and unique locations that would pop on screen. We pushed to source key locations such as: monument valley, a local high school in rural Argentina, a scuba centre in South Korea & a neon light workshop in Sweden.

Where necessary, I co-ordinated the additional communication within pre-production, such as with the scuba team & high school,

On the ground I led the interviews and acted as assistant director when needed. I then oversaw the edit and post-production alongside the director, securing post houses of choice.
